(More customer reviews)I brought this little burner trying to use it for slow burner using NG. I unscrewed the whole valve brass part out, and drilled with a really fine drill to make the hole little bigger to let me NG pass through.
However, to use with NG, I should add a metal plate to block some of the air intake from side of the brass valve, since NG is different from propane that could expand more in volume. Without block the air intake from the side, the fire could come back to the valve when you have the valve set very low.
In general, this is good buner. I am sure it will work great for propane.

First off the size of the SOB will let you cook anything and anyway you prefer. Want to grill -16- rib-eyes no problem. Want to slo-cook -6- slabs of ribs laying flat..gofor it!! To get this size of pit from anyother pit mfg in the state of Texas will cost you double and big time shipping costs. The smoker box will let you slo cook all day long at 250 degrees..just add a little briquets every hour and that is it. Some prople dont understand why I like large bbq pits. It is really quite simple. I like them for their flexability. You dont have to have the whole sucker full of food. But you have safe spots. You can sear steaks and chops and then move them to a cooler area to finish up. You can throw in two full briskets or a small pig with no problem. This pit is made to last. The body is 14 gauge steel and the door is 11 gauge. You get a top notch pit thermometer as well. There is no need to have a bbq to grill with and a smoker for lo and slo. The SOB does it all. If you want to do competition Que in your backyard get a SOB!! This pit is pound for pound the best around. I should know, I have just about had them all!!

I've broiled steaks and chops, and baked cookies and cakes, everything has been fantastic! It is absolutely wonderful to have 2 ovens in 1 appliance. How often do you have potatoes going and the rest of your meal needs to be in the oven as well. This solves all the problems! We cooked our turkey and everything else with no conflicts this season!
The smaller oven on top makes it perfect for those of us with really bad backs! I can barely bend over many days, but the top oven is at the perfect height to comfortably take whatever is in - out of the oven.
The burner controls along the side are great - gives the oven a much more streamlined look. The oven lights go on when the either door is opened. The entire appliance is very easy to keep clean. Overall I am thrilled with this purchase, I love the oven and would recommend it to anyone - it's really a plus for a busy kitchen.

The oven door wouldn't really shut tightly and the heat was seeking out. There was no temperaure control for the hot plates and after two month of occasional use it just died on me. I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody. Avanti should be ashamed of itself to put such a poorly constructed product on the market.

Calphalon D1382PB Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned this pan for about two years ... it's simply wonderful. The Calphalon Commercial line is the top of the line, just like the Professional, but with stay-cool handles. The thick, sturdy aluminum heats up quickly and evenly, and goes from the stovetop to the oven up to any temperature.
My favorite dish to make with this pan is a large omelette for two to four people. You saute the onions, etc., until carmelized, then add the whipped eggs, top it with diced tomatoes, basil, oregano and cheeses, then broil at about 450 for a couple minutes until browned. Simply wonderful!
I also cook stir frys, poach fish, bake casseroles, and brown meats in this truly Everyday Pan.
Now, for the issues: As with all true Calphalon products, you can not put hard-anodized aluminum into the dishwasher. It will damage the surface, leading to pits and discolorations, and void the lifetime warranty to boot!
Second, this is not a nonstick pan. If you want nonstick, buy Calphalon Commercial Nonstick, the best ever made (The Commercial nonstick line has the more advanced LRS3 coating versus the much less effective LRS coating on the cheaper Professional Nonstick II line).
To clean, simply buy a Dobie pad or its equivalent. For the tough stuff, I find a little Bon Ami or Dormond cleaner does the trick without too much effort.

(More customer reviews)I received this oven in December and since then I've cooked a 13-lb. stuffed turkey, salmon fillets, a 4-lb. chicken, a casserole of stuffing, a lemon pie, peanut butter cookies, fajita vegetables, sliced sweet potatoes, and a frozen pizza. It took some trial and error but I think this will work well for me. What I like most about it is its pristine appearance and how easily it cleans up after use and then stores away out of sight. I like the fact that the timer alerts me when it's through cooking and I can watch the progress myself through the clear plastic container. I like that it requires no preheating and doesn't heat up the kitchen. I like that I can pause and interrupt the cooking to adjust the dish or add sauce or seasoning and then reset it to a new cooking time or temperature. I'm even becoming competent at using it to reheat coffee or my cold dinner. It's important to keep the food the correct distance from the heat source, or utilize aluminum foil to slow down the browning process or to allow food to steam through. I think this is a keeper for me as I continue to experiment with it.

Sassafras Superstone Covered Baker Review

(More customer reviews)I've been looking for something that will allow me to bake artisan-style French bread at home. I'm an experienced bread baker, but had not been able to produce breads that were identical to the commercial bakeries.
Allowing for the differences in our ovens, I thought that perhaps a stone baking container might allow me to more closely reproduce the breads. In late December after reading the available reviews on this product, I purchased it. I had high hopes that I would be able to bake outstanding bread. I used the recipe that came with the pan and was not totally disappointed. The flavor of the bread was very good, but it was not extraordinary. Nevertheless, the baking method is less labor intense than the misting methods used in some recipes.
However, I'm not satisfied with the final results and will continue to experiment with various steps in my bread-baking experience. I'm considering using this pan, but tinkering with the production method, by using a higher temperature, misting to produce steam, and not covering the loaf with this pan's lid.
February 15 Update - I tried putting the baker's top into the oven during preheating. Then, I placed a shallow pan in the bottom of the oven during preheating and, after the oven had reached temperature, poured in 1 c. of boiling water and then closed the oven and allowed it to heat an additional 5 minutes. Please be CAREFUL or you may get steam-burned!!!!!!!!Then I placed the bottom of the Sassafras in which the dough had been raising into the oven for 5 minutes. Again, BE CAREFUL or you may get steam burned. I then opened the oven and placed the hot lid over the loaf and allowed it to bake for the remaining time. It worked great! The bread was nicely browned, very crusty, and perfectly done. The methods are a synthesis of those in the Peter Reinhart, Bernard Clayton, and Rose Beranbaum. I hope this helps others out there looking for the perfect French-style bread.

We compared time to boiling using a magnetic saucepan and 2 cups of tap water. It took 4 times as long to boil water using the adapter disk than not using it. It also took longer for the water to boil using the adapter disk on the induction cooktop than heating it on a standard electric coil ccoktop at medium high heat. The cooktop works fine.

My wife and I have been looking a more updated unit to replace our 15 year old electric range oven. We thought we found a unit that was both functional, sleek and useful. For the two months that the unit worked, it was actually a great range oven. We found ourselves using the upper oven (although smaller of the two) more than 95% of the time. It heated up quickly and baked evenly. The stove top is also designed thoughtfully and the control unit, while not as advanced as some other units, was very functional and surprisingly intuitive to use.
The unit broke down after just two months of use (bought on Sep 10, 2010 and broke on Nov 4, 2010). The unit shut down completely and when it re-powered, the "door locked" indicator was on. While the stove top was still functional, neither of the ovens were. The GE technician looked at the unit for about three minutes, ordered a bunch of parts and left. The follow up appointment was rescheduled by dispatch, without notification. GE Customer Service was useless (but at least they all spoke English). Now we're stuck without an oven for Thanksgiving holidays with family coming to town. Will call the store we bought the unit from and see if we can return it. Searching around there are more reports of control board circuit boards being "fried" by the oven, so this is not an isolated incident. Do not buy this unit until the problem is resolved.

I have been disappointed; for example, it doesn't work if you wrap potatoes in aluminum foil, as the accompanying booklet says you can; it also consistently takes almost as much time as the oven to cook stuff...and I continually have to re-cook foods two and three times just to get them DONE...I keep hoping I will find foods that cook easily in this countertop oven, but haven't thus far. I do realize it takes much less electricity, so from that standpoint it is better than heating the entire oven. But I have to say I wish I had not purchased this product.

I ordered this hotplate due to some good reviews in another website.
This product had a deep scratch on the cooking surface. The glass cut the person opening it. I returned it for replacement. Provantage is very fast and I got the replacement quickly. Unfortunately the replacement also has a deep scratch on the glass surface. There is nothing wrong with the box and plastic bag. This indicates that the product was damaged before being packaged.
