Breville RC19XL Gourmet Rice Duo Review

Breville RC19XL Gourmet Rice Duo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The sturdy, stainless steel appearance of this model hides some design flaws. Foremost, the glass lid is ill-fitting on the base pot, providing lots of leeway for steam to escape during cooking. Secondly, the bell mechanism is, frankly, an overrated feature here. The sound produced is far too quiet for it to be practical in a busy kitchen. Despite these two shortcomings, the two stainless steel steaming baskets are very useful, and the Breville RC19XL succeeds best in its most important task: cooking rice to perfection. Overall, a not-too-pricey cost for a modern design and general practicality.

I am so glad the heating filament is of the solid-core type and not the puny coiled-spring type. The product looks solid and performs flawlessly. This is our third turbo within the past 10 years or so. I expect to use this often for a looong time, as well.

Fox Run Microwave Bacon Rack Review

Fox Run Microwave Bacon Rack
Average Reviews:

I had another microwave bacon rack, the same size as this one. I replaced it with this one after my other one cracked on the side, and it was stained.
I like the size of this one, but it doesn't seem as sturdy as my other one was. If you have to cook more than one batch of bacon with this, I noticed that the grooves start to melt. It stains very easily too.
I don't expect it to last as long as my other one did, which was for many, many years, but this one is ok, for the price I paid for it.
I would never go back to cooking bacon on the stove again. This way is much less messy.

Coleman Two-Burner Propane Stove Review

Coleman Two-Burner Propane Stove
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned and loved a 5430C Coleman 2 burner propane stove for 6 years and recently ordered, directly from Coleman, another 5430, now produced in the F model, so that I could have a total of 4 burners on matching stoves. The first hint I had that the F model was deserving of the "F" designation was when I reached in the box and slightly cut my finger on the base which had not been properly fastened and tucked inside the lip of the top during manufacture. My first thought was that it had been damaged in shipping but there were no marks on the box and no dents in the thin sheet metal. Unlike the older model C which had rolled steel edges, sturdy hinges, and a positive locking latch, the model F has rough edges with abrasive burrs that remained exposed even after I disassembled it and put it back together with the base tucked into the top as it was designed. The lid has a piece of plastic that serves as a latch by snapping into a cutout on the top but it did not even make contact with the lip of the cutout. Using my fingers I warped the lid enough to get it to fit but when carrying the stove by the roughly cut hole that serves as a handle the lid pops open. I will say the burners work well but the construction is cheap, poorly assembled, and is a first aid event waiting to happen. The sad part is the printing on the box which says "MADE IN USA". As an Eagle scout, former assistant scoutmaster, avid RVer, and owner of various Coleman cooking and lighting appliances dating from WWII to the present, I am disappointed in a brand whose name has always been right there with apple pie, hot dogs, and the 4th of July. I can't say I won't buy Coleman in the future but I will, without a doubt, compare other brands for quality regardless of their country of origin. Wake up Coleman and spend a few more cents per unit to rebuild your reputation for quality. Your grade on this one is an "F"

Long the authority on propane camping stoves, Coleman steps up to the plate again with its two-burner PerfectFlow stove. Coleman's PerfectFlow appliances regulate the pressure of the propane to provide a consistent cooking performance without flaring or flickering. This steady fuel stream holds true even in cold weather, high altitudes, or when the fuel is low.The stove is equipped with two 10,000 BTU burners, with independently adjustable flames that let you boil water on high (in a mere 4-1/2 minutes) while you simmer chili on low. The fuel is long lasting as well: with just a single propane fuel cylinder (sold separately), you can use both burners on high for up to an hour--more than enough time to prepare a weekend's worth of meals. Plus, the stove includes Coleman's Windblock side panels, which not only shields the burners for maximum heat, but also adjusts outward to accommodate larger pot sizes. Propane stoves are perfect for almost any social outdoor activity, including camping, hunting, tailgating, and backyard cookouts. The PerfectFlow stove measures 23.25 by 5.5 by 14.75 inches (W x H x D) when closed and carries a three-year warranty.
About Coleman More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.
In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

Morningware HO1200M-WOR Infrared Halogen Oven Review

Morningware HO1200M-WOR Infrared Halogen Oven
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Love this oven. I don't know how much electricity has been saved since we hardly ever use our large oven any more. I would bet it's quite a bit, not to mention all the heat we keep out of the house. " Which is a good thing when you live in Florida ". We generally use this oven a couple of times a day, so it definitely has had plenty of use in the last 2+ years and it's still working like the day we got it. Nearly every thing I cook is done in here. Unlike a microwave oven, meat and chicken brown beautifully, also works great on garlic toast. It also can be set for a delayed start if needed. This works out just fine for the 2 of us, since we don't make large meals, even though this will hold a 8 or 9 lb roast or turkey " Larger if you order it with the extender ring ". This does cook quite a bit faster than a conventional oven, but not as fast as they say it does. And yes it does cook from frozen, it will take longer of course. There cooking chart tells you how long to cook individual items that are frozen or not frozen. All and all this oven has worked out exceptionally well for us, we would be lost without it.
The digital timer can be set from minutes to hours, depending on your needs. The temperature can also be set from 190 deg. to 400 deg. When the timer turns off, the temperature will automatically reset to 190 deg and keeps your food at that safe temperature till you turn the oven off. A nice thing about this oven is the interior is lit up, so you can watch everything cooking. This oven is extremely easy to clean, there is a heavy glass liner on the bottom that comes out easily and is dishwasher safe. That goes for the stainless steel rack also. For most items we generally put aluminum foil on top of the rack, so cleanup is a snap we just throw the foil out. The clear plastic dome very rarely needs cleaning, since the food rarely splatters. But if it does, it's just a matter of wiping it out with a damp cloth.
NOTE *** SEE MY PHOTOS UNDER CUSTOMER IMAGES ON PRODUCT PAGE :: THANX.
About 3 1/2 years ago I bought the NuWave oven from a TV commercial. I cost about $130 with shipping the oven and a extra plastic gadget they give you, but have to pay shipping for. It stopped working in 13 months, one month after the guarantee was up. I liked the way it cooked, but decided to look for an alternative oven. I found this one for less money, without the extra gadget and free shipping. So far I am very well pleased with it, and would highly recommend it.
UPDATE;::: It's over 3 years now and still working great.

By using a combination of conduction, convection, halogen light, and infrared rays, this energy-efficient countertop oven not only cooks food up to 50-percent faster than conventional ovens, but it also creates instant heat, eliminating the need for preheating the oven or defrosting food ahead of time. The unit's fast infrared heating eliminates the chance of harmful bacteria growth as with normal defrosting, plus the infrared waves liquefy naturally occurring fats in foods, releasing the grease into the glass drip tray for healthier results. Use the oven for anything from baking, broiling, and roasting to barbecuing, grilling, dehydrating, or re-heating leftovers. Food cooks and browns quickly and evenly and meat stays juicy and tender inside yet perfectly seared on the outside. In addition, the unit offers smokeless, odorless operation that won't heat up the kitchen, and it can hold up to 8 pounds of meat or cook up to a 16-pound turkey with the extender-ring attachment (not included).
rom the bottom up, the unit features a plastic base, a nonstick glass tray, a dual-position stainless-steel grill, an FDA-approved polycarbonate dome, and a halogen powerhead with a user-friendly digital control panel. Choose from one of four levels for a preset time and temperature or manually set the cooking time and temperature from 190 to 400 degrees F. A sound beeps at the end of the cooking time, and the appliance automatically decreases the temperature to 190 degrees F to keep the food warm for up to three hours. Other highlights include a one-hour 59-minute delay timer, an interior light, and a dishwasher-safe design (except for the power head) for easy cleanup. A quick reference cooking chart, owner's manual, and recipe booklet come included. The 1200-watt halogen oven measures 13 by 11 by 14 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty."

This griddle is large, but light weight. It cooks evenly and browns well. Clean-up is a breeze--just soap and water. Design is outstanding. Have purchased other double burner griddles and they didn't fit my stove because the handles were in the way. The handles on this griddle are molded, low profile and don't get in the way. The defrost feature is great. I start the defrost in my microwave and finsh on the griddle. No cooked spots on the meat and the defrost time is incredibly short. Great product. Zojirushi EF-VSC40 1300-Watt Electric Gourmet Roaster Review

Zojirushi EF-VSC40 1300-Watt Electric Gourmet Roaster
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
been on a zojirushi appliance kick lately. ... neuro-fuzzy, portable skillet, grill, and now the fish roaster. wife is japanese and says these things are commonplace in a japanese household but typically built into the oven and not a separate appliance. i wish that were the case here as well.
anyway, next to the rice cooker, which we use everyday, this item gets the most use. seriously...almost daily. usually we make some kind of shioyaki (sake, gindara, aji, or saba) and sometimes gindara misoyaki. but we also use it for burgers, pork chops, steaks, etc.
there are many complaints on here about the smoke. yes, it can be excessive at times, especially with oily things like saba, a well-marbled wagyu steak, or a burger. but we just set it on a wooden cutting board on the stove and use the exhaust fan, and problem solved. besides, the smoke is precisely one of the main benefits of this roaster...sure it goes all over the house. but it also goes all over the food, leaving a nice char-broiled flavor. outstanding.
regarding the floating reflector, the first thing my wife did the first time we used it was to put foil down. problem solved. it requires a total disassembly and cleaning about every 10 uses or so. 5 minutes on high (with nothing in it) after the meal has been cooked gets rid of a lot of the mess though. kind of like a self-cleaning oven.

A healthy and efficient alternative to stovetop or oven cooking, this gourmet roaster delivers 1300 watts of power for quickly cooking anything from chicken, chops, or steaks to fish and veggies. Its stainless-steel roasting rack measures 13-13/16 by 8-5/16 inches, which means it can nicely accommodate large fish and meats up to 13 inches wide. The rack can also be set at two different heights and its design helps direct excess oil and fat away from food for lower-fat cooking. For added convenience, the countertop appliance comes equipped with top and bottom heating elements to ensure even cooking without having to turn food over, plus its floating reflector reflects heat from the bottom heater and reduces evaporation of water for a crispier finish. Other thoughtful details include an adjustable timer up to 30 minutes, a catalytic filter on the lid for reduced smoke, a flip-open lid, and parts that disassemble for easy cleaning. Accessories include a food-server utensil for removing cooked foods, including delicate fish fillets, and an instruction manual with suggested roasting times listed for pacific saury (sanma), dried jack mackerels, salmon steaks, tilapia, tilapia wrapped in foil, steaks, chops, hot dogs, sausages, and chicken. The gourmet roaster measures 11-5/8 by 19-1/8 by 7-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

NuWave Oven Pro Infrared Oven with Extender Ring Kit Review

NuWave Oven Pro Infrared Oven with Extender Ring Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My first oven of this type was a Flavorwave Deluxe (now discontinued) made by Thane. It was given to me by my brother and sis-in-law; it was great and I loved cooking on it; until it almost burnt the house down.
On that model, after cooking, if you do not turn it off it automatically goes into warming mode. What happened was after cooking I placed the unit on the table top ( the little holder was missing) sometime later I went to turn the kitchen light off and there was the flavorwave in full cooking mode. Fortunately it did not catch the table on fire. It went into the trash the next day.
I read a lot of reviews and saw the infomercial and decided to purchase one from the company with the extender ring, pan and extra rack. There were all of great quality. The bottom liner pan (that came with the unit even if you do not purchase the extender ring kit) has two Little wire like carrying handles that recess into the pan while the dome is in place cooking. the main cooking rack is 11.5 inches in dia. if you already have a pan. It's great for biscuits, rolls and fish sticks.
The main rack has a 4" legs or 1" legs. I recommend spraying a non stick cooking spray on the rack for easy cleaning.
I found the Nuwave actually cooks faster than the Flavorwave Deluxe by about 15-20%. The average oven operates on a 220 volts while the flavorwave operates on 110. the average oven cooking on 2000 watts and the Kilowatt Hours used is say 1488 kWh/mo that figures to about $223.00 per month @ $.15 Cost of Electricity (per kWh) or $2676.00 Cost per year. Of course family size is a variable here.
I love the idea of cooking right from the freezer with frozen steaks and hamburger patties etc. Thought it is true you have to turn your food even pizza's. The flavorwave company offers a pizza kit of the flipper a liner a spatula, cutter and cutting board all free if you purchased your oven from them if you just pay a separate S/h charge of about $26.95; yeah, go figure. I purchase just the flipper on an online auction site for just $.99. Since most pizza's come with a cardboard backing I can just turn the frozen pizza upside down on the cardboard and cook the dough first and slip the flipper under the cardboard and flip it then cook the topping and in the process save myself some real dough.
So far I have cooked frozen potato patties, rib eye steaks sausage patties and fish sticks with great success and purchased an egg poacher on line and will use the non stick cups to cook my eggs in. I have use a custard cup for the eggs but trying to pick it up and dump out the egg was a bit of a chore.
I'm especially exited by the money I save using the Nuwave and it comes with a "cheat sheet" for quick references for beef fish etc. and a great cook book. This appliance would be excellent for a member of the family living in a school dorm; of if you own an RV, boat or anywhere space is limited
To be up front, there is a "nack" to cooking with Nuwave oven if you are use to a conventional oven but the benefits are worth the effort.
To the reviewer who gave this unit a poor rating; try cooking your food on either a lower power or for less time or both. I love mine.
SPECIAL NOTE: I PURCHASED A KEURIG SINGLE CUP BREWING SYSTEM ON AN ONLINE AUCTION SITE. IT WAS BRAND NEW NOT EVEN OUT OF THE BOX AND EVEN REGISTERED IT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE UNIT DEVELOPED SOME ISSUES AND KEURING WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AS IT WAS PURCHASED ONLINE.

The Portable Kitchen is simply the best and most versatile charcoal grill ever built. It is a great smoker; it is great for steaks, chops, burgers, dogs, etc. You can cook anything on it you can cook in the kitchen. It will even bake breads and pizza. I inherited mine from my dad, who bought it when I was in my teens (I am now in my 50's). I have burned up the grill and the charcoal grate, but the PK is still in use and doing well. It is at least 40 years old and going strong. I was not able to find replacements for the grill and grate so I repaired mine using expanded metal from the hardware store. For a while the PK was not available. It is grand to see that it is back in production and readily available. The grill and grate are also available for those of you who have burned up yours.

1300 Watts Induction Cooktop (Silver) Review

1300 Watts Induction Cooktop (Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

I LOVE it. I hardly ever use my (electric) range. Anticipating that I'd be moving off the natural gas grid I bought this 2.5 yrs ago to see what life with Induction would be like. It's fabulous. Fast, responsive, accurate. I'm looking forward to remodeling my kitchen next year and adding a 30 inch all induction cooktop. I like a 36" cooktop, but with a portable like this one tucked away I can haul it out when I need the extra burner, and will be able to use my space more efficiently.
If you're curious about Induction, try one of the portables first. At worst, you've got a great extra station for a hot appetizer when you throw your next party.
Check out the Henkels Induction-ready cookware. One reason I balked at moving to Induction was that the cost of buying All-Clad adds a lot to the picture. But the Henkels is GREAT, well priced, comfortable to use, heavy. I hate giving up my clay pots that I use on the stove top, but - all around, Induction is the best alternative to gas. At least I'll be able to keep using them in the oven.

Micro-Induction Cooktop provides the best in cooktop performance, safety and efficiency. Induction heats as electricity flows through a coil to produce a magnetic field under the ceramic plate. When a ferromagnetic cookware is placed on the ceramic surface, currents are induced in the cookware and instant heat is generated due to the resistance of the pan. Heat is generated to the pan only and no heat is lost. As there are no open flames, inductions are safer to use than conventional burners. Once cookware is removed, all molecular activity ceases and heating is stopped immediately.

Double-Barrel Chicken Cooker Review

Double-Barrel Chicken Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I put this inside of a larger pan so the juices don't leak (had to bend the handles to make it fit). 400'F gas oven for 2 - 2 1/2 hours (depending on the chicken sizes). I fill up the "cups" with beer & citrus or cran juice & citrus and put the chickens over it, season the chicken skins, dump 2 bags of baby carrots in water in the pan and leave it be. Then we have a delicious, juicy chicken and carrot dinner. I hope to make some other variations later. Right now, I use it once a week. It's a little difficult to clean, and you definitely have to put it in a pan so it doesn't leak while cooking. Also, the 4 stars I gave it was because after pulling it out of the box (from TX, supposedly made in USA), I found a sticker saying "made in Taiwan" stuck to the stainless steel. Now, I don't know if it means the steel if from Taiwan or maybe the steel is American but the pan is made in Taiwan??? Anyway, it is great to be able to put a fulfilling dinner in the oven, go outside and work in the yard for a couple hours, and come back in to a delicious cooked dinner.

George Foreman GR10B 36 Square Inch Nonstick Countertop Grill, Black Review

Inexpensive, small, portable for traveling to parties (along with my
mini frydaddy deep fryer), intended for one big hamburger or steak or
2-3 chicken breasts. Heats up fast, 1 minute. Easy clean up (use
plastic spatulas, metal will scratch teflon).
When I ordered, I assumed this was a standard size and did not know
it was mini version - look at the dimensions - but I'm an individual
so this is perfect for me. When I have guests over, I can grill 5+
hamburgers separately in < 30 minutes.

Sporting a sleek, durable design, this electric countertop grill offers 36 square inches of cooking surface for endless cooking options. The unit heats up quickly and delivers even heat across the entire cooking surface, from the center all the way to the edges. Furthermore, its two fixed cooking plates provide a double nonstick coating, which makes lower fat cooking an easy option and helps ensure effortless removal of even the most delicate foods. Use the grill for anything from poultry and fish to fresh summer vegetables, veggie burgers, and more. The grill comes with a floating hinge for even grilling of thicker foods like steaks and pork chops, while its patented sloped design allows fat and grease to drain off for healthier results and reduced smoke when cooking. Other highlights include a "ready" indicator light, a plastic integrated handle, a drip tray for grease, and an easy-to-clean design. The personal-size grill measures approximately 9-2/5 by 10-1/5 by 5 inches.

Texas Irons Double Barrel Chicken Cooker Review

My inital take on this Chicken Cooker was about the same until like most men don't do I read the instructions that came in the box. It says and I quote "Cover top of tray with foil to seal the corners of the cooker." (Even says to do this on the big black warning label on the instructions to avoid flare ups) I did this and wow it actually worked. I have been making beer can chickens for well over 10 years now and when I saw this I had to try it out. I no longer have to worry about trying to balance the chicken and the can on my grill grates. With this cooker all you have to do is cover the top of the tray with foil (see I remembered), fill the wells (there's two and I've used both several times) with your favorite beverage (I usually use Dr. Pepper and a little bit of black pepper), then slide the chicken cavity down over the raised well and put it on my grill, even tried it in my oven last weekend when it rained, was still good and worked just as well.
I would recommend a Double Barrel Chicken Cooker to anyone that likes chicken...and what's not to like about it, this way is even healty as it helps drain the fat away from the chicken and steams the meat. These guys really thought this thing out, just wish now I had thought of it before they did!
Enjoy and happy cooking!
