(More customer reviews)I bought these little silicone cups because of the great price and the fact that I couldn't poach an egg if my life depended on it. Whenever I try to poach an egg the whites spread all over and I end up with just a yolk (and yes, I've tried the swirling vortex method, using farm fresh eggs and putting vinegar in the water). These cups work fine for containing the egg neatly, but they do not poach the eggs, they steam them. A poached egg is cooked under water and with these cups you crack the egg into the cup, place them in a pan with about an inch of water and cover the pan. Water is never in the cup or covering the egg, its a water bath. Thus the egg steams and gets done, but you don't get the soft, rounded, velvety textured egg you will find at a good restaurant (or on anybody's plate, but mine). This can be said of any of the so-called egg poachers that have you crack an egg into a receptable of some kind, put it over water and then has you cover the pan. If the "poacher" needs covering, its going to steam the egg. Also, a little buttering or spraying of the cups help slip them out. Non-stick finish is just so-so.
